Freelance Symfony developer

I design and build Symfony APIs that stay easy to change as the product grows. New projects, legacy code that needs modernising or a team that needs someone senior to own the technical decisions. Based in Berlin, working on-site or remotely.

What I do with Symfony

From the first endpoint to production

New APIs

Design

A foundation that holds up as you grow.

REST APIs with Symfony and Doctrine, with the domain kept apart from the infrastructure (DDD) and reads and writes split where it pays off (CQRS). PHPUnit tests from day one.

Legacy

Modernisation

Swap the engine without stopping the car.

I refactor legacy platforms into maintainable code, step by step, without rewriting everything at once. When the monolith can't take any more, I split it into services.

Deployment

DevOps

It reaches production, and it stays there.

Docker images, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure on AWS, so that deploying becomes routine instead of an event.

Tech lead

Team

Someone who decides, and explains why.

I've led the tech side of startups as the team grew: architecture, code reviews and the judgement to know what to build now and what can wait.

Why Symfony

When it's the right tool

Symfony shines in products built to last for years: complex business logic, several people working on the same code and requirements that keep changing. Its components, dependency injection and Doctrine keep things in order as the project grows.

If you need to validate an idea in weeks, Laravel or Node may get you to production sooner. I work with all three, so I'll recommend the one that fits your case, not the one I like best.

FAQ

Before you write

Do you work remotely?

Yes. I'm based in Berlin (CET) and work with teams on-site in Berlin or remotely across Europe.

Can you join an existing team?

Yes, that's the most common setup: I work in your repository, with your tools and your process, and bring senior judgement from the first sprint.

Can you take over an old Symfony project?

Yes. Modernising legacy code step by step, without stopping the business, is one of the things I've done most.

Which languages do you work in?

English and Spanish.
